Good morning Emil,

I want to add detail for your blog about us, Royce Machine LLC, Lebanon, OH your first GO5 customer.

I am the 3rd generation owner of a small CNC machine shop. My father (generation 2) is my pickup/delivery man. He called to report, ”I’m lost” while making a delivery. It became obvious we need to monitor deliveries so we can help at times like these and to respond to customer questions of “where is he?’.

Finding Inti Tech on an online search was exactly what I needed. After speaking to Emil, I bought two Geotab GO5 units, one for my flatbed truck a 1999 F-550 and one for dad’s personal truck a 2005 Ford Ranger.

The installation may have been a first for Inti Technologies. As Emil headed to his car to get a flashlight, I took the unit to the flatbed, found the OBD2 jack and had it plugged in before he could return to the truck. Both vehicle installations were complete in less than 2 minutes, including the time we spent staring in disbelief.

The next day my parents were leaving in their motor home for a week. I thought it would be entertaining to track them as they ran about. My 68-year-old mother, no electronic genius, watched me remove the unit from dads’ truck and plug it into the camper. Upon arriving home, she pulled it out and put it back into dads’ truck. It is just that easy!

In addition, mom called once during the trip when they were not sure, how to get where they were going. In only a couple minutes I opened the program, found them on the map and gave them new directions.

I have since moved the unit around to my 2008 HHR panel and my wife’s 2008 Saturn Aura. Happy to report no problems, just plug and go!

I have other plans, but that is another story that involves my airplane.

It just does not get any better than that.

By the way I just installed (actually the customer, Mark, installed while I went to get a flash light) a couple of GO5 units. Mark has already moved a unit to his RV for the Labor Day weekend. The real story is his 68 year old mother, who is not a mechanic, moved it back to the truck (Ford F550 or a Ford Ranger). No outside antenna or any wires. Just plug it into the vehicles computer (OBD2 connector).

It is ideal for parents with new drivers.

Fleets with a couple of problem drivers.

Law enforcement officers may secretly place a GPS device on a person’s car without seeking a warrant from a judge, according to a recent federal appeals court ruling in California.

… a person cannot automatically expect privacy just because something is on private property.

“You have to take measures — to build a fence, to put the car in the garage” or post a no-trespassing sign, he said. “If you don’t do that, you’re not going to get the privacy.”

We sell GPs and I think law enforcement should be required to get a warrant.

Reduce or eliminate unauthorized after hours use, nights, weekends “moonlighting” with your equipment and rolling assets.

Verify accurate start, stop time. Verify stops at customer locations and time spent.

Stop abuse of your valuable assets. I had a service technician that was an excellent technician. However he was also into dog shows. He would use my van to transport his dog to regional shows. I also suspected that he was working on the side. Without GPS I could not prove anything.

Take control of your vehicles.

It is time to check out the GPS tracking and reporting system for all city Snowplows. We need to upgrade the server and database as we get ready to roll. Next step is to check out the interface to the Force America Model 5100 Electronic Controller and insure it will show the correct status on our reports.

Get the last known location on the web. We are willing to suspend tracking for a couple of months to help your ROI. If the trailer is not hooked up to power (brake lights) and is supposed to be immobile you can notify us to suspend tracking. We will reduce the monthly fee to $4/mo. If the trailer is hooked up to power we can notify you by email that it is “started” and begin tracking immediately.
What do you think? Excellent for seasonal lawn care or livestock trailers.
